MiniGolf and Miller. Well today was a pretty perfect Saturday. Morning TV, some productive cleaning, and then an evening of fun. I had a great time playing minigolf with the Kopecky kids and then hanging out with the whole gang at the Timber Rattlers game. They might be a crazy family at times, but they know how to have fun ;-)

Crafts. Working on presents in the summer sun was by far the best part of today.

Hangin' Out. The best part of today was pretty much the 5 hours that followed 10 hours of work. El Azteca with Sam and Sara, followed by crafty making and joking about a rainbow box ;-) was really fun. A great start to the weekend, if you ask me.

Being important. Today I was invited along to see the progress being made in the Mulva library. With just over a week until move-in, things are getting serious. There are last minute details to work out and some major kinks that need fixing. I felt so important being allowed to tag along and listen in to contractor conversations and give an opinion about certain matters. It's like I'm really a part of it. Cool! Maybe lame? I still like it. I am grateful that my opinion is respected and that I am trusted in my position to bear witness to the completion of such a great project.

Baseball surprises. Surprising the one and only Jim Rohde with a relatively well orchestrated trip to Miller Park was by far the best part of the day. The game was good, even with a loss. Hanging out in the parking lot afterward was entertaining. The ride home was long. Both Laura and I trying to turn down an off ramp was thrilling. The 151 detour was annoying. And the whole day was exhausting. It was, by far, the BEST day of summer so far. I love Jim and all the Rohdes. What good people. I hope to repeat the day soon!

Army Strong. I think the best part of today was trying to figure out just what is the Army's slogan. Be all that you can be? An Army of One? Army Strong? Here's the deal: they used "be all that you can be" during the 80s and 90s, adapted "Army of One" in 2001, and in 2006 turned to "Army Strong." There ya go, now you know. Now, go thank someone you know serving our country!

Lifetime. While in Spain we would often talk about what we missed about home. For me that often meant rainy afternoons sitting on the couch watching cheesy Lifetime Movies with my mom. Today was great because that is just what we did. We watched a Lifetime movie. Thanks Mom for taking the time out to sit back and just hang out watching a low budget chick flick!

Chats in the sun. A phone call from my friend Julia made today great. One of my best girlies from Espana. I haven't talked to her since I left Spain and she left for her travels. We both laid out in the summer sun (the last before all this rain), she in Minneapolis, and me in Wisconsin, and got all caught up on life. It was so nice to hear from her and have someone to talk to about Spain, missing it, loving being home, and the little bits of being home that aren't so great...I love her and all the great friends I made while abroad!

The end. The best part of today will be the end, when I finally crawl into bed. Staying up reading until 4am today and then getting up at 5:30 to finish studying for my compensation final probably wasn't the best idea, but well worth it. It definitely makes the end of one very long day the best, and most needed part.

Lunch. I had lunch with my good friend Steph today. Sitting by the Fox, enjoying the sun and a sandwich and remembering the pact made Freshman year to jump in with our clothes on the night before graduation! Thank you to those trying to clean it up, hopefully reducing my chances of contracting a disease afterward and to Steph for agreeing to risk it with me :-).

The smell of Spain. I put on a shirt that I haven't worn since I've been home only to realize it still smelled like Spain. Really. My mom's laundry detergent. I loved it. Wearing that shirt made me think of all the great things I did in it, since I pretty much wore it every single week and/or weekend of travel. It's stained and should be thrown out, but I just can't....it's too perfect....mmmmm, the sweet smell of Espana, I miss you.

Questions. Today I realized a nerdy interest in legally-required benefits. I LOVE them. ERISA, OADIS, workers' compensation, FMLA, I love them all. I have so many questions and just want to keep learning! I love that I am able to question the world I live in, and am lucky enough to be given opportunities to seek those answers, whether they be "yes, social security benefits of children receiving benefits after the death of a parent loose those benefits at the age of 18" or something a little deeper....

Driving. The very best, most wonderful part of today was the commute home. Taking the back roads with the windows down and the radio up. It's just what you need to get recharged after a day in the classroom and at work. I love blasting the radio and singing along to whatever is on, whether that's 101.1, 95.9, 103.1, 103.9, 100.3, 104.3, or even a little 89.3. I love them all!

What a perfect day in radio land. Great driving songs that made for one fantastic ride!
